Proton Technology’s Global
Environmental & Humanitarian Mission

The same technology in your kitchen has purified oceans and reached humanitarian crises

Proton water is not only a personal health product. The technology behind it has been applied to some of the world’s most significant environmental and humanitarian challenges — and received international recognition for doing so.

“Proton technology can lead people to true health and cleanse waters worldwide. For the sake of the children who will bear the future of our planet, our mission is to preserve the essential values of health and the irreplaceable treasure of a beautiful natural environment.”

When Proton International was founded in Japan in 1969, its research focus was clear: understand the water energy theory based on proton science, and apply it wherever water — and life — needed to be restored. Over more than five decades, that mission has taken the technology from research laboratories to ocean oil spills, from water purification trials to international humanitarian operations.

The Restore Water you drink at home is part of this story. Understanding the scale of what proton technology has achieved globally makes the science behind your glass considerably more compelling.

Environmental Application

GW (Great Woods) — The World’s First Circular Water Purification Device

In April 2010, the Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico. Over the following three months, approximately five million barrels of crude oil spilled into the ocean — the largest accidental marine oil spill in history, and a catastrophe that affected ecosystems, coastlines, and communities across the Gulf Coast.

Proton International responded with a device born from decades of proton research: the GW (Great Woods) — a compact, circular water quality purification unit developed using proton technology that no other organisation had been able to replicate.

What the GW device achieved: Despite its compact physical size, the GW demonstrated an outstanding purification effect on oil-contaminated water — rapidly treating contaminated water on-site. The footage of the device operating at the edge of the polluted water, and the clean water emerging from it, made a powerful impression on the environmental and defence agencies that evaluated it.

The GW device represents something significant in the history of proton technology: proof that the same scientific principles that work at the scale of a human cell also work at the scale of an ocean. The reducing power of protons operates whether the system being treated is a single body or a body of water.

Humanitarian Application

Rescue 180 — Safe Water for Communities Affected by Pollution

Water pollution is not only an environmental crisis — it is a human one. Communities around the world live without reliable access to clean, safe water, and the consequences fall disproportionately on the most vulnerable.

In collaboration with a United Nations NGO and the government of Sri Lanka, Proton International launched Rescue 180 — an international humanitarian aid initiative using the GreenBox Proton Water Generator to provide safe, living water to affected communities, regardless of the condition of the available water source.

The Technology
GreenBox — Proton Water Generator for Any Source
The GreenBox was designed to generate safe, living proton water from virtually any water source, regardless of its original condition — clean river water, contaminated well water, or heavily polluted local supply.
  • Deployed in Sri Lankan communities with severely compromised water sources
  • Designed for operation independent of existing infrastructure
  • Produces proton water on-site, eliminating the need for bottled water supply chains
  • Compact enough for community-level deployment
  • Operated under the cooperation of a United Nations NGO and the Sri Lankan government
“Water that cleanses the ocean and water that supports the body come from the same science — and the same conviction that proton technology belongs in the world.”
The Mission Continues

Proton Labo Australia — A Local Extension of a Global Vision

These global applications are not incidental to the proton water story. They are at the heart of it. Proton International was founded on the conviction that proton technology could lead people to true health and cleanse waters worldwide. The GW device and Rescue 180 are the proof of that conviction at scale.

Proton Labo, established in Sydney in 2023 as the first authorised overseas agency of Blue Ocean International, shares this vision entirely. The establishment of Proton Labo in Australia was motivated by exactly the same philosophy that drives the global mission: water that is better for people is also better for the Earth.

Proton Labo’s vision for Australia: Our activities here will act as a catalyst, spreading this water worldwide, so that more people can continue to stay healthy. We also wish to use the power of proton water to make Australia cleaner and leave an even more beautiful environment for future generations of children.

These global applications reflect the original purpose of Proton International’s research — not as a commercial venture, but as a genuine response to the needs of people and the natural environment. The GW device and Rescue 180 demonstrate that proton technology, at its best, is in the service of life itself.
